Miley Cyrus' Family Have 'Weathered A Huge Storm'

Thursday, March 24, 2011

After a rough few months for Miley Cyrus and her family, things seem to be looking up.

After Billy Ray reconciled with his Miley over the comments he made about Disney's Hannah Montana ruining his family and stopped divource proceedings with Miley's mum, Tish, the Cyrus family seem to be back on track.

And now that everything is lookig peachy again, Miley's mum took to her facebook page to thank people for their love and support during the difficult time.

Accroding to USmagazine.com, Tish wrote: "Big thanks to all of our family, friends, and fans who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers," Tish wrote on her Facebook page. "I feel so blessed to have so much support from all of you."

"Our family weathered a huge storm and I feel we are stronger than we have ever been," she continued. "Much love to all of you guys! You're the BEST."

Billy Ray Cyrus: I could have been a better dad

Billy Ray Cyrus is recanting the remarks that ricocheted around the world.
"I love 'Hannah Montana.' I love Disney. I wouldn't change anything," the musician and father of Miley Cyrus said on Wednesday's "Good Morning America," in response to a volatile interview he gave in December in which he blamed "Hannah Montana" for destroying his family.

Now, Cyrus says his messy home life was to blame, adding that he was "surrounded in darkness" when he gave the interview. At the time, Cyrus was in the midst of filing for a divorce that he has since called off.

"It wasn't good," he said of Miley's reaction to his printed comments.

"What I meant to say, and what I hope I said was ... fame can be a dangerous animal," Cyrus, 49, told "GMA's" Robin Roberts.
"And it's a delicate thing," he continued. "You know, when you get in this industry and ... you strike so hard for that moment. But, fame is dangerous."

As for the infamous bong incident (in which Miley smoked the herb Salvia) that threatened to damage her image, her father said in her defense, "Miley has a great heart. She's very intelligent. She will make good choices and she knows right from wrong."

A friend to his kids
In terms of his own choices, and the sort of father he tries to be, Cyrus admits he might have taken a wrong turn.

"I did kind of approach being a dad as a friend," he said. "I was a great playmate. I mean, for teaching [my children] how to camp and build fires and ride motorcycles and four-wheelers, and horses, and all those fun kind of things. I was really good at that."

But, he concedes, "As far as sitting down and doing algebra and science, the homework, I wasn't very good at that. So I look back on it and think, 'You know what? Maybe, no doubt, I could have been a better dad.' "

Moving ahead, "I still want to be Miley's friend," said Cyrus, who sees himself as "that person she comes to talk to." When it comes to Miley, he declared, he loves her "more than life itself."

Miley Cyrus Is Happy Her Parents Decided to Call Off Divorce

Miley Cyrus is very happy that her parents have called off their divorce. However, the teen sensation is a little reserved when it comes to showing her emotions surrounding her family's situation. As any child would be, Miley (and her siblings) was very hurt when Tish and Billy Ray announced their decision to divorce. Over the past couple of months, things must have been pretty tense in the Cyrus household. Just days after Billy Ray announced that he would be retracting his divorce petition, new information has surfaced about Miley's feelings about the whole ordeal.

"She is very happy and excited for the reconciliation [of] her parents, but her sisters seem to be showing their excitement even more. Miley is treading lightly because she was really hurt [when] her parents originally broke up, and does not want to take anything for granted," said a source.

No one can blame Miley for being cautious. It's very hard to see your parents fighting and what not, so it may be better for her to hold her ground until the dust settles. Sometimes kids have to cope with family issues in their own way, and Miley is clearly doing just that.

Miley Cyrus Readying International Tour

Miley Cyrus is ready to take her music back on the road. The teen superstar is in the planning process for a full-scale international tour, E! News confirms. Miley will kick off the tour on April 29 at Estadio OlĂmpico Atahualpa in Quito, Ecuador. Then she will take the show to Lima, Peru, at Explanada del Monumental, on May 1. The singer/actress, who has already begun a workout regime to prep for the tour, is set to announce more dates soon. There are no immediate plans for her to play shows in the United States.

"Miley has a huge fanbase worldwide," a source told E! News. "She's pumped that her schedule has opened up and allowed her to perform for fans abroad."

For those who might not be able to see her on tour, Cyrus has resumed tweeting. No, the star has not reinstated her account, like Demi Lovato, but instead will send messages from the Twitter account of production team Rock Mafia. Cyrus is attached to a big-screen adaptation of the group's music video for their track "The Big Bang," which she starred in with Kevin Zegers.

"This is my new way to connect. When I need to speak out I will tweet from @Rock_Mafia ROCK MAFIA FOREVER. x MC," she tweeted, including a picture of herself and the group's Antonina Armato, who added, "Writing with Miley on a Rainy Sunday #Heaven!"

Cyrus has been meeting with lots of music producers recently. Last week she met with "Party in the U.S.A." producer Dr. Luke. Sources tell MTV News that Miley is interested in writing more for other artists.

Miley Cyrus Gets Back Into Music and Twitter

Miley Cyrus has been busy filming her upcoming film 'LOL' and performing on 'Saturday Night Live,' but now the 18-year-old is putting her focus back onto music, beginning with a Latin American tour next month.

The Gypsy Heart tour, promoting Miley's latest album, 'Can't Be Tamed,' will kick off on April 29 in Ecuador. Only seven dates have been confirmed, but more are expected to be added soon.

With her new tour coming up, it's no wonder why Miley wants to stay in touch with her fans, so the former 'Hannah Montana' star has decided to go back on Twitter ... well, sort of. Miley won't be tweeting from her own account -- she'll be sending messages from Rock Mafia's Twitter.

"This is my new way to connect. When I need to speak out I will tweet from @Rock_Mafia ROCK MAFIA FOREVER," she wrote, adding, "Wanted to make it clear I'M NOT rejoining twitter. Im only using it when with RM writing! Fans are the best way to get inspired. love u xMC."

As you may recall, Miley quit Twitter in 2009. She even made up a rap song explaining why, and posted a music video about it on YouTube.

Miley Cyrus Is Not Joining Twitter Again

Miley Cyrus gave her fans false hope when she said that she was back on Twitter via Rock Mafia. However, Miley has corrected her own statement by saying that is not coming back on Twitter full time. Here is her message.

Wanted to make it clear I’M NOT rejoining twiiter. Im only using it when with RM writing! Fans are the best way to get inspired. love u xMC.

I have to say that I would not be surprised if she later on does rejoin. Demi Lovato did after all, so why not Miley? She seems wanting to connect with her fans again, and Twitter could not be a better place for that.

Do you hope that Miley does later on come back on Twitter? Or are you happy that she is gone? I think that a lot of her fans miss her, and her fans likely miss her as well. So in a way I hope she does come back on for her fans sake at least.

Miley Cyrus preps for world tour

Miley Cyrus will be embarking on a world tour this spring, presumably in an attempt to further skyrocket her music career away from her girly-girl image as Hannah Montana. Cyrus announced the first two dates of the worldwide tour on her website yesterday and will add more soon.

The tour will kick off in Ecuador on April 29th and heads to Peru for a show on May 1st. After that, it sounds like Cyrus is open to suggestion. “Where should I go next?” she posted on her Facebook page. “More tour dates will be announced soon!” According to E! News, the tour plans do not extend to the States at this time. A source said, “Miley has a huge fanbase worldwide. She’s pumped that her schedule has opened up and allowed her to perform for fans abroad.”

Tickets for the April 29th show in Quito, Ecuador at the Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa will go on-sale March 26th at 12 p.m. while tickets for the May 1st show in Lima, Peru at the Explanada del Monumental will go on-sale March 23rd at 9 a.m. For more info go here.

In other Miley news, the pop star has– sort of– returned to Twitter. Cyrus canceled her account back in 2009, but has recently been posting on production team Rock Mafia’s page. A few days ago Cyrus posted, “This is my new way to connect. When I need to speak out I will tweet from @Rock_Mafia ROCK MAFIA FOREVER. x MC.” But that doesn’t mean Cyrus will be back on Twitter all the time. Yesterday she wrote, “Wanted to make it clear I’M NOT rejoining twitter. Im only using it when with RM writing! Fans are the best way to get inspired. love u xMC.”

State Senate's Salvia Legislation Mentions Miley Cyrus

That's right, the day has come when Miley Cyrus's decisions are affecting our legal system. Salvia—an herbal drug that, when smoked, can cause intense hallucinations—came into the American mainstream after a video of the pop-star smoking it appeared in December. A few weeks ago, a Roosevelt Island man jumped to his death after smoking it, which pushed Senator John Flanagan to introduce legislation banning the substance. Yesterday, the legislation passed the State Senate.

The senate notes in a statement that, "This is the same legal substance that pop star Miley Cyrus was allegedly smoking in a widely distributed video clip in December of last year." Flanagan said, “This legislation has passed the Senate four times in the past and it is important that the parents of New York know that their state is standing with them in the fight against drugs. It is time to protect our younger residents from this dangerous substance and impose a ban immediately in New York State before another tragedy occurs." The bill would fine anyone selling salvia in the state $500. However, according to one Daily News reporter, the high isn't even worth it.

Reporter Irving DeJohn decided to see what all the hype was about, and found the drug easily ($54 at Addiction NYC on St. Marks Place!). After a few "harsh" pulls he reportedly found himself giddy and giggling before coming down after ten minutes, an effect easily produced by a few beers at a quarter of the cost. Assemblyman Peter Rivera said he is pushing to have the bill voted on by the end of June, but that they are also considering a bill that would only ban salvia use by minors. Why not, it worked for cigarettes!

Take that, Miley! State Senate approves bill to ban sale of salvia in New York

ALBANY - Miley Cyrus is on notice: State lawmakers are pushing to outlaw the hallucinogenic herb salvia in New York.

The state Senate on Monday overwhelmingly approved a bill banning the sale of salvia - which gained notoriety after "Hannah Montana" was seen toking on the herb in an online video posted last December.
"We are trying to do something preventative," said Sen. John Flanagan (R-Suffolk), who sponsored the legislation.

Salvia can be either smoked or chewed, and its effects have been compared to LSD.

"These things turn out to be gateway drugs to things that are a lot more significant ... a lot more dangerous," Flanagan said.

The Senate approved Flanagan's bill less than two weeks after 21-year-old Ryan Santanna jumped to his death from a Roosevelt Island balcony after smoking salvia.

Santanna's father, Lauro, blamed the herb for his son's suicide.

Jared Loughner, the Arizona gunman accused of shooting Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and a slew of bystanders in Tucson earlier this year, also reportedly used salvia.

Lawmakers say Cyrus' use of the herb caught their attention - and put the psychoactive drug on their radar screen.

"I think she could have used better judgment," Flanagan said.

Cyrus was videotaped taking bong hits of the herb just a few days after her 18th birthday. "Having a little bit of a bad trip," she said in the video.

Flanagan's bill would smack anyone caught selling salvia in New York with fines as much as $500.

The measure now heads to the state Assembly, where its fate is uncertain.

Assemblyman Peter Rivera (D-Bronx) said he is pushing to have the Assembly's version of Flanagan's bill voted on before the end of the legislative session in June.

But the Democrat-controlled Assembly is also considering a separate bill that would only ban salvia's use by minors.

"I'm hopeful," Rivera said of the prospects for his and Flanagan's legislation. "I'm pushing for it."

Miley Cyrus video blamed for plan to ban Salvia herb

The BC Civil Liberties Association is opposing Health Canada's proposal to criminalize the herbal product Salvia Divinorum.

BCCLA policy director Micheal Vonn said Monday that the proposal to criminalize the herb seems based not on science but on the fact that Miley Cyrus popularized the drug in a You-Tube video.

"Instead of evidence-based policymaking, we are getting policy by Hannah Montana," Vonn said.

In the YouTube video featuring Cyrus, the actress who played the Disney TV series character Hannah Montana is shown smoking something and laughing. She later explained she was smoking the legal herb Salvia, not marijuana.

Vonn believes the video has prompted politicians to pressure Health Canada to criminalize the herb.

"Certainly the optics are highly suspect," Vonn said. "It looks like a lot of political pressure has been brought to bear on this."

Salvia is a species of sage belonging to the mint family. Also known as "magic mint," it is regulated under Natural Health Products Regulation and is sold at hemp shops across the country and on the Internet, where it is marketed as a legal hallucinogen.

In proposing the criminalization of Salvia last month, Health Canada called for 30 days of public consultation on the issue, which has ended.

Vonn believes the matter should receive broader public debate. Adding Salvia to Schedule III of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act would be highly counterproductive, she says, and harm the youth that Health Canada hopes to protect.

Sending vulnerable youth to jail for using Salvia will not protect them and will only drive the use of Salvia to the black market, which will prevent the product from being effectively researched and safety-tested, Vonn said.

According to Health Canada's website, use of Salvia causes "slurred speech and awkward sentence structure," "lack of physical coordination" and "uncontrollable laughter."

Vonn suggests such effects bear a striking resemblance to those of alcohol. She suggested Salvia should be regulated rather than criminalized.

"The war on drugs is nothing short of a fiasco," she said.

Daddy, I wasn't drunk': Miley

Billy Ray Cyrus has reconciled with his wife - and his also mending his relationship with his famous daughter.

The country singer, 49, has been estranged from Miley Cyrus for a number of months during which time him publicly expressed concern about her wild antics.

The 18-year-old had apparently sided with her mother during her parents' five month separation and was said to be 'hurt' and 'angry' of his criticism of her behaviour in the press.

But the pair, who starred alongside each other in the hit Disney show Hannah Montanna, are back on good terms and he is now coming to her defence following reports she left Chateau Marmont intoxicated last week.

Miley was pictured 'stumbling' out of the Hollywood hotspot at 3am last Saturday and seemed to be leaning on her friend and covering her eyes.

But the star - who was recently caught smoking a bong on video earlier this year - has assured her father she is not going off the rails.
Defence:The 18-year-old told her father Billy Ray that she was not drunk when leaving Chateau Marmont in Hollywood last week

'I was talking to Miley last night and she was talking about New York and then I noticed that she felt there was a sadness. She'd sent me a picture and I thought it looked like she'd been crying', Billy Ray told The View in an interview set to air in the US today.

'And I asked her and she said, "Well there's some stuff about a picture and they said I was drunk" and she said "Daddy, I wasn't. I had a meeting with Dr. Luke".

'And I happen to know that Dr. Luke is one of the greatest songwriters in the world right now, he wrote Party in the U.S.A. and Miley's working on a new album and that's very good for her creativity to be channelling that energy toward music', he added.

'So she says "I had a meeting with Dr. Luke and the staff and we were all there and I came out of this restaurant" and there were so many paparazzi that she said "I couldn't see Daddy" and "they were flashing".

'She said "I held my hand up to block the flashes out of my eyes because I couldn't see to take a step."'

'I went back and re-looked at the picture and I go "Baby I'm sorry it's just got to be tough." She said "It's embarrassing. It hurts my feelings" and she said, most importantly, "It was a lie. I wasn't drinking. I wasn't drunk. I was just trying to get to my car after a meeting."'

Of their reconciliation, he says: 'I feel like I got my Miley back. I feel like we're the daddy and daughter we were before Hannah Montana.'

Billy Ray told The View he has called of his divorce from Tish, whom he has been married to for 17 years, following their split in October.

'I want to put my family back together,' he said. 'Things are the best they've ever been.'

Miley was pictured out yesterday playing happy families with her mother and grandmother.

Miley Cyrus May Release 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' Bret Michaels Says

Last year, Miley Cyrus declared that she Can't Be Tamed. The album features a cover of the Poison classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" that the teen star recorded with the glam-metal band's frontman, Bret Michaels, himself. And now, according to Michaels, the track likely will be released later in 2011 as a single ... finally.

The Poison singer told to E! News that Cyrus' label initially had intended to issue her version of the song as a single much sooner, but those plans were sidetracked thanks to a bit of tabloid drama involving Michaels.

"The record label was supposed have to this huge humongous release of 'Every Rose,' " the rocker explained. "It was going to be Miley's next-step song, but because of that, they stepped back. It really bummed me out. I worked hard on that."

The "that" he's referring to is his rumored affair with Miley's mom, Tish, which allegedly may have contributed to the short separation of Cyrus' parents. Now, with that relationship back on track, so apparently are plans to release the song, which seems to really please the Poison frontman. "I think this is the song that will cross her over," Michaels said. "If it happens, it's going to be a big hit."

A rep at Miley's record label had not responded to MTV News request for comment about plans for the song's released as a single at press time.

Last year, MTV News spoke to Michaels about working on "Every Rose" with Miley, and he really sang the teen star's praises in the music-cred department.

"She's one of the few musicians — and I want to use that word, 'cause she can actually play and sing — she's one of the few people who can pull it off and give it her own flare and make it sound good," Michaels offered. "I gotta tell you something — she nailed the song. She really knew what she was doing. She got in there and picked the guitar up ... It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun ... It's gotta be her taking 'Every Rose' and making it all hers."

Miley Cyrus Defends Mom In Paparazzo Encounter

'You just hit my mom with your camera. Don't you ever do that again,' the teen star tells tells aggressive photographer.

Paparazzi are warned: Young Hollywood is on the defense. Just a week after Justin Bieber flipped off the paps (and later apologized), Miley Cyrus is also taking a stand against the prying camera lenses of the celeb-obsessed.
As a video posted online shows, the incident took place when a paparazzo ran up from behind Cyrus and her mom, Tish, as they were getting into their car after hitting up California Chicken Cafe in West Hollywood on Wednesday. Cyrus didn't seem to like how close the camera guy got to her mother, so she pushed his lens out of the way, confronting him for getting too invasive.

"You just hit my mom with your camera," she told the man, pointing her finger at him. "Don't you ever do that again. You just almost hurt my mom. Don't you ever even think about it, for real."

As the two women got into the car, the paparazzo still tried to get his photo, as he said, "I would never disrespect your mom like that."

Cyrus has been vocal in the past about her frustrations with photographers following her around, noting that they are an intrusive by-product of her life in the public eye.

"I just [want] people to know, I think in pictures I always look upset. It's because these cameras are following me. I just think it's really kind of unfair," the teen star shared in a September 2010 video blog. "I know there are some people that maybe like that attention, but I'm not one of them. I really just want to be able to go on walks and enjoy where I live ... The paparazzi really frustrate me, and it makes me really upset that I'm being followed around by men that I don't know, and for anyone else, it would be considered stalking. I don't know who those guys are. I don't know if they're good guys or bad guys. I don't necessarily care; I don't want anyone following me."

Miley Cyrus' 'So Undercover' Gets Release Date, Distributor

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

For fans wondering when they'll get the chance to see Miley Cyrus' FBI comedy, "So Undercover," wonder no more! According to The Hollywood Reporter the flick is set for an October release and will be distributed by The Weinstein Company. The movie, which was directed by Tom Vaughan and co-stars Jeremy Piven, Mike O'Malley and Kelly Osbourne, is about a young woman who snags a job with the FBI to penetrate a sorority and protect a mobster's daughter. We assume, from there, hi-jinks and hilarity ensue.

"We've been working so hard," Miley recently dished about filming the movie. "Literally, I'm in every scene except one or two, so we've been here working really long hours. It was nice to have a night just to be able to hang out, all the crew and all the cast, to be able to hang out as friends, not in just a work environment.

"I've had an awesome time shooting this movie," she added. "I'm excited for you guys to see it, really digging it. I wanted to tell you guys I love you...peace."

Miley also had to learn some action fighting for the film. "I've been doing fighting, like learning how to box...mostly like street fighting, so knowing how to, like, if someone comes up from behind you, being able to defend yourself," she said. "I have a trainer and I have bruises everywhere from, like, kicking the bags... And I've learned how to use guns, which was really scary."

Miley Cyrus' 'SNL' promos: Pre-game thoughts?

Saturday night is going to be a party in the U.S.A, PopWatchers! Well, a party at my 10-year-old niece’s house, anyway, because she gets to stay up late to watch Miley Cyrus host Saturday Night Live this weekend.
Personally, I’m more excited about musical guest, The Strokes. (By the way, you should totally check out the video to the band’s new song “Under Cover of Darkness.”)

But these promos ease my fears regarding her hosting abilities. Example: My favorite part is when she disappears. Kidding! Honestly, part of me hopes she pulls out a performance so solid that everyone (including myself) spends the rest of Saturday night eating a big plate of their own words. (It wouldn’t be the first time I doubted a host and was proved wrong later. See: Gerard Butler)
Based on the promos, what are your thoughts, PopWatchers: Will Cyrus prove the naysayers right or do you think it’ll be pretty cool?

Miley Cyrus gives 'no comment' on friend Christina Aguilera's arrest

Miley Cyrus has been pushed into the media spotlight again, but this time it has nothing to do with anything she did. Her friend Christina Aguilera has been arrested and the media is hounding Cyrus for a comment. Should Miley come to her friend's defense?
Christina Aguilera was arrested for suspicion of public intoxication. Since this incident was reported the press has been calling on Cyrus and her reps for a comment more than they have been calling Aguilera. Why is that?

It appears that the press will do anything to get something from Miley Cyrus to write about. The fact that they are hounding her more than they are Aguilera's reps is strange. Perhaps it is because Cyrus came out in defense of Aguilera after she butchered the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

According to reports when asked for a comment on the arrest Cyrus, through her reps, said "no comment."

It is hard to blame Cyrus for not wanting to make a comment on the arrest of one of her good friends until she has more information available to her. The last thing she would want to do is say something wrong because she didn't have all the facts. One could argue that she could come out and at least express support for Aguilera but that may only lead to more questions and hounding by the media.

I'm sure at some point Miley Cyrus will issue a statement about the plight of her friend but she won't do it just because the media wants her to. She will do it at her discretion when she feels the time is right.

Miley is also dealing with own problems at this point and may not have the strength to throw herself into the middle of a scandal of one of her friends. Can you blame her?

What do you think?

Miley Cyrus to host Saturday Night Live on March 5th

Miley Cyrus is coming out of hiding to host SNL on March 5th with musical guests ‘The Strokes’. This will be Miley Cyrus’s first time hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ and her first public appearance since her dad Billy Ray Cyrus made his controversial remarks about Miley and Hannah Montana ruining his family.
No idea yet what skits Miley Cyrus will appear in and what the subject matter will be but knowing ‘SNL’ they are likely to incorporate the Billy Ray scandal into it somehow. It should be an interesting show, especially to see how Miley Cyrus handles the pressure. She should be great though, as she is pretty funny in Hannah Montana.

Miley Cyrus begins first part of 'Saturday Night Live' experience Continue reading on Examiner.com: Miley Cyrus begins first part of 'Saturday Night

Miley Cyrus has made a living for many years making people laugh on "Hannah Montana" -- now, she is venturing out to a much older audience this weekend on "Saturday Night Live." So is the 18-year old actress going to be prepared for the show to the best of her ability? If nothing else, she's already in New York to get prepared.
Of course, so far the only public sightings of Miley have been her shopping -- but that does not necessarily mean that she is just goofing off before the start of the show. Much of the "SNL" preparation goes on behind closed doors, as the cast ensures that there are plenty of moments worthy of staying up late to watch. (With Miley, you have to believe her own spoof featuring Vanessa Bayer is going to come up at some point.)

Stay tuned, for we will have more of Miley on "SNL" over the course of the next week as we near the airdate (including some photos and video released by NBC). Do you think she will ultimately do a good job?

Miley Cyrus refusing comment on friend Christina Aguilera's arrest

Miley Cyrus apparently has enough troubles of her own to get involved with those of her good friend Christina Aguilera. On Tuesday, the world learned that Aguilera was arrested on charges of suspicion of public intoxication (see unofficially released mug shot on left). But everyone seems more interested in what Miley has to say about the matter than Christina herself.
L.A. Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore tells E! News that Aguilera was "cooperative" and "not belligerent in any way whatsoever" when she was taken into custody with boyfriend Matthew Rutler. However, shortly after word of Aguilera's arrest surfaced, the media began flocking to Miley Cyrus and her reps for comment.

Cyrus famously backed Aguilera after the singer infamously flubbed the National Anthem at February's Super Bowl. But Cyrus is apparently giving a solid "no comment" on this issue - one that Cyrus can indirectly relate to. Despite having never been busted for suspicion of public intoxication, Miley's much-publicized bong experience sparked a media firestorm from which the young star has not yet recovered.

Miley nixes dad on 'View'

Miley Cyrus has gotten her dad to back out of a scheduled appearance on "The View" -- to keep him from bad-mouthing "Hannah Montana," according to reports.

Last week, dad Billy Ray Cyrus complained in an interview with GQ magazine that he was no longer close to his daughter and that he regretted ever letting her appear in the Disney Channel series that made her famous.
"At first, Miley defended her dad, wanting to believe he had been tricked into saying bad things by the magazine," an insider told popeater.com, a Hollywood gossip site owned by AOL.

"But after she found out about his media trip to New York, no more excuses could be made.

"Only last week, Billy shot his mouth off in GQ, and now he planned to sit down with [Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg] and talk more crap about his family? No way would Miley or her team let that happen."

Billy Ray had been listed as a guest on today's show for several weeks. Then, yesterday, without mentioning Cyrus' cancellation, a press release from the morning talk show listed MSNBC anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski as today's guests.

A spokesman for Billy Ray declined comment last night and said he had no plans to reschedule.

"The damn show destroyed my family," Billy Ray told the magazine of "Hannah."

"I'd erase it all in a second if I could."

The Birthday Bong At Cyrus Is A Thing

Search for the words "Cyrus" and "bong" right now on Twitter and -- besides the TMZ video of Miley Cyrus taking a bong hit on her birthday -- you'll find a few results about the celebratory dessert bong at Cyrus in Healdsburg.
Our beloved anonymous Michelin Guide critic(s) started it with a tweet a few days ago, but there's really nothing much to make a fuss about because Bauer was so all over this four years ago.

Still, it doesn't look like he liked it, which, well, what's not to love about the Cyrus team's inspired dessert contraption that looks like drug paraphernalia? And it blows chocolate confetti around birthday cookies like a snow globe? And the cookies come with Brooklyn egg cream shots?

Miley Cyrus: Global Action Youth Leadership Award Winner

Maybe kids really do relate to Miley Cyrus.

The teen superstar was presented with the Global Action Youth Leadership Award at the 1st Annual Global Action Awards Gala on Friday night, taking home the honor thanks to her impressive charity efforts.
According to Just Jared, the singer and actress was recognized for her support of Blessings In A Backpack, an organization that works to feed hungry children at schools, as well as her personal Get Ur Good On campaign with the Youth Services of America.

Of course, it's a nice change of PR news for Cyrus, whose name has been in print recently for some things for which she probably wouldn't receive a youth leadership award.

Among other scandals, Miley was caught smoking the legal herb salvia from a bong at a party in December, suffered criticism for her very suggestive stage outfits during a summer tour, did some dirty dancing with the 44-year old director of her summer film, "The Last Song," and had another round of racy photos leaked in late December.

Her father, Billy Ray, said recently that he's "scared for her" and how Hollywood has changed her, but clearly, she's still doing some things right.

"But I've never, ever claimed to be perfect," Cyrus told Marie Claire recently. "I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me."

Miley Cyrus and 16-Year-Old Paige Livesay Lend a Helping Hand To Deaf Children in Haiti

Miley Cyrus is channeling her energy into something positive: charity work. The 18-year-old star is currently in Haiti to support the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and in the process of helping deaf children get supplies that they need, the former 'Hannah Montana' star made one exceptional teen's day.
In 2006, 16-year-old Paige Livesay and her parents moved to Haiti to do missionary work in the troubled country. The work has been exciting and fulfilling, and this week, the Livesay family got to team up with Miley, World Wide Village and the Starkey Hearing Foundation to bring the gift of hearing to roughly 200 Haitian children.

According to the Livesays' blog, molds of the kids' ears were taken so that custom hearing aids could be made in Minnesota. Miley helped deliver the devices to the the children in need, but she needed a local translator. That's where Paige, who speaks Creole, came in.

"Paige missed a day of school last week in order to be with the midwives to help teenage mom Enisse bring Sophia into the world (per Enisse's request for Paige to be present) and she missed a day of school this week in order to go be with a famous teenager from America,"
Troy Livesay wrote. "We've nominated Paige for the 'Weirdest Life Ever' award."

We'd like to nominate Paige for the 'Most Amazing Teen Ever' award as we are completely blown away not only by her ability to speak Creole and help during the delivery of a newborn (wow!), but by the fact that she is dedicating so much of her time to helping others during a time in her life when most teens are preoccupied with texting and hanging out with friends. So inspiring!

As you can see from the Livesay family's pics, both Miley and Paige are doing a lot of good in Haiti with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which celebs like Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta have also partnered with in the past. And how cute is it that the little girl in the picture has a 'Hannah Montana' pack?

This isn't the first time Miley has aided the people of Haiti. She released a single and donated the proceeds to the Helping Haiti campaign and the Disasters Emergency Committee and last year she auctioned off her Grammys dress to benefit the American Red Cross' relief efforts in Haiti. We commend Miley and Paige for offering her time and help to the Haitian people. You can read more about the amazing work the Livesays are doing on their blog.

Billy Ray Cyrus: 'Hannah Montana' show 'destroyed my family'

Billy Ray Cyrus says his daughter Miley Cyrus' massive success as Disney darling Hannah Montana led to the destruction of his personal life.

"I'll tell you right now — the damn show destroyed my family," Cyrus, who filed for divorce from wife Tish, tells the March issue of GQ magazine.
"I should have been a better parent. I should have said, 'Enough is enough — it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt.' I should have, but I didn't. Honestly, I didn't know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere."

Cyrus also wants to make one thing clear: "For the record, I've never made a dime off of Miley."

He says he's worried about the path his daughter is taking, and worries she'll end up like other Hollywood tragedies. "Kurt (Cobain) was one of those guys. That's why I'm concerned about Miley. I think that his world was just spinning so fast and he had so many people around him that didn't help him. Like Anna Nicole Smith — you could see that train wreck coming. I was actually trying to reach out to Anna Nicole Smith, because I kept telling Tish and everybody around me, going, 'This is a disaster.' Michael Jackson — I was trying to reach out to Michael Jackson. I knew he had kids, and I was going to invite his kids down to a taping of Hannah — I just felt it would be good for Michael. I don't know why. I met Michael one time at the Grammys. He sat in front of me, in the front row, and a dime rolled out from under and hit my boot — this very boot I've got on — and I reached down and picked up this dime, and looked, he was going through his pockets, and I said, 'Are you looking for this?' 'Thank you.' And he took that dime and put it back in his pocket. I looked at my manager, I just said, 'Why did Michael Jackson have a dime?...' Nobody could tell me."

Miley Cyrus Never Claimed to Be Perfect

Miley Cyrus couldn't agree more. She has had some very harsh criticism in the past year (the bong! the slutty video! the panty-less paparazzi pictures!), and in this month's Marie Claire magazine, she admits her critics might have been right. "I've never, ever claimed to be perfect," she told the magazine. "I mean ...
I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me." Other topics that come up in the story include Demi Moore ("It really felt like Demi was my mom a little bit"), her earnings (despite making $48 million last year, she claims she is extremely frugal), her goals for 2011 (building wells and bringing water to people in Indonesia) and when she will ever get around to making new music ("I feel like I want to wait until I can make a record that says exactly what I need to say").

When the subject of family comes up, Cyrus admits, "Of course, anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family, but I have a lot of hope in our family." But the issue of Marie Claire was printed before the GQ interview with her father Billy Ray Cyrus came out. So it's impossible to know if she still has hope after reading his angry words.

Miley Cyrus to take a deep breath and host 'SNL'

Miley Cyrus has signed up to host "Saturday Night Live," and the Ministry wants to know: Will the "SNL" writers be free to write bong jokes? Or is that, like, pretty uncool?
People didn't mention whether the March 5 monologue would mention salvia but did confirm that there will be a separate musical guest who is not Miley Cyrus — possibly freeing her up to also make an appearance on "SNL's" "The Miley Cyrus Show," a sketch that mocks, well, Miley Cyrus.

The whole salvia-bong thing back in December, though legal and not radically unusual, was a mistake, she told Marie Claire recently. "I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans," Cyrus said, noting that in contrast to many others her age who might consider salvia smoking no big deal, she's a role model.

"So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."

What she stands for, the Ministry has divined, includes no vampires, no Twitter, no more "Hannah Montana," no problem dating a costar, no hassle from your parents (at least most of the time), no underpants, no more good girl and no bra when meeting the queen — though, oddly, yes to cadmium and yes to international beer — all positions clearly at odds with bong smoking.

Miley fans who can't yet stay up late enough to watch "SNL" can see their idol sing with Justin Bieber at Madison Square Garden in "Never Say Never," the just-opened 3-D movie of his life.

Will Miley meet Miley on 'Saturday Night Live?'

Miley Cyrus, 18, is going to host Saturday Night Live on March 5, Lifeline Live has confirmed. It will be the first time the star has done the honors.
We'll be watching to see if Miley be a guest on Vanessa Bayer's The Miley Cyrus Show, featuring the SNL cast member as the teen star, with Jason Sudeikis playing dad Billy Ray. In December, Vanessa spoofed Miley's recent bong incident. "The moral of the story: Don't let your friend videotape you while you're doin' stuff."
