Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana send the ratings through the roof!

It wasn't quite as big as M.A.S.H but Miley Cyrus' finale of Hannah Montana was huge for a cable network. Disney couldn't have hoped for anything more than what Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana were able to deliver ratings wise for the final episode of the hit show.

The Hannah Montana finale was seen by an estimated 6.2 million viewers. That is a huge audience for a cable network and broke the previous Hannah Montana ratings record by over nine percent. Everyone knew that the finale would be huge but I'm not sure they knew exactly how huge it would be.

Now that Hannah Montana is over there are two questions that remain. Will Miley Cyrus ever find another role that was as popular and as successful as Hannah Montana and what will all the Hannah Montana fans turn to now for entertainment now that the show is over?

Howard Stern Talks About Miley Cyrus

Shock talk radio host Howard Stern was on Piers Morgan Tonight and talked about his opinion on Miley Cyrus music. It was brought up when he was talking about growing older and how musical taste can change. You can hear what Howard had to say about Miley in the video located at the bottom of this post.


It seems like everybody has an opinion on Miley and I guess in a way that can be good because it keeps her in the headlines. Yet most people have bad feelings about her and it is sad in a lot of ways. Maybe her music or copying Britney Spears is annoying and not your cup of tea, but I sort of feel bad when people make fun of her because she is so young.

What do you think about Howard Stern’s opinion? Do you think people should lighten up on Miley? I do, but at the same time, I do think she needs to try to take her time with switching her fan base.

Hannah Montana goes out with record ratings

Miley Cyrus scored big ratings for the Disney Channel with the series finale of her hit show Hannah Montana.

The series finale of the hit show Hannah Montana, starring Miley Cyrus, pulled in 6.2 million viewers for the Disney channel -- breaking its record during the fourth season by nine percent!

Hannah Montana debuted in 2006 -- when Miley was just 14 years old --and turned her into a huge success, with two full-length spin-off movies, albums, products and more.

The show is about a student named Miley who leads a dual life as the singing sensation Hannah Montana (the blond wig apparently makes her unrecognizable to her friends). The show stars her real life father, Billy Ray Cyrus, plus Jason Earles, Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso.

Miley Cyrus said that even though Hannah Montana is ending, the show will stay with her. "I don’t think that’s something that’s going to be completely over," she told TV Guide. "I’ll always be involved with that. And the show won’t just come to an end. There will always be reruns and stuff like that, and I think it’s something that I’ll always want to keep in my life. It’s something that has really affected me and put me where I am today."

Her father, Billy Ray, said he admired his daughter for seeing the series through to the end. "Quite frankly, I give a lot of credit to Miley for taking it to another year. She didn’t want it to just end with whatever was the last episode we did. She wanted it to build to where there’s a moral to the story, to where it doesn’t just end and go away and that’s it. She wanted there to be an official ending to Hannah Montana."

What’s next for the busy 18-year-old? She has several movies in the works, including the movies LOL and So Undercover. She is also rumored to be working on a double disc duet with Jonas Brothers star (and former boyfriend) Nick Jonas.

Miley Cyrus Wanted for Dark New Role

With Hannah Montana wrapping up forever and ever, Miley Cyrus may soon be moving on to a dark, spooky, Inception-like thriller.

Disturbia director Christopher Landon declares that the upcoming thriller Wake is "sort of a vehicle for Miley Cyrus," who he says "is looking to sort of get out of her cutesy Hannah Montana image."Landon tells the blog Shock Till You Drop that he hopes Miley will sign on to the movie about a girl with a freaky narcolepsy (sleeplessness) that finds her passing out and falling into other people's dreams. Wake could end up being the first in a horror franchise, as the film is based on the young-adult novels by author Lisa McMann.

If Miley really does want to break out of her Hannah mold, Wake could be just the ticket. Her post-Hannah movie career so far entails two teen movies, LOL, which is said to contain some racy elements, and So Undercover, the sorority-fest with new pal Kelly Osbourne.

Did Miley Cyrus Talk Trash About Taylor Momsen?

Today, a number of sites, including OceanUp and The True Gossip, ran an interview Miley Cyrus gave to College Cures.

In the “interview,” Cyrus allegedly had a few not so complimentary thoughts about “Gossip Girl” star Taylor Momsen.

When Cyrus was asked what she had in common with Momsen, the former “Hannah Montana” star replied, “The only thing we have in common is our love for music, singing and acting.”And as for whether the “press has turned a blind eye to Taylor and focused their attention” on Cyrus, the So Undercover lead felt Momsen got a little bit of a break, and explained, ”My fan base has always been a younger audience than hers, but people seem to forget the fact that she’s younger than me; she’s on Gossip Girl, younger people watch that too! Just because I worked for the Disney Channel doesn’t mean that I’m not allowed to grow up and Taylor is. She’s seventeen years old. She has young people watching her, too.”

Of course, there’s one slight – no, BIG – problem with the interview.

So this girl is totally Miley Cyrus

Well, well, well, here we go kids -- it's a new dawn, a new day over at "American Idol" and for all the talk of changes, the first episode felt exactly like every other single one that's come before. Although it seems, save for the judges, all the format changes come into play with the semi-finals, so right now the only tweak we can critique is the judges table.A change I loved.

Thought Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler did a fantastic job of bringing their own flava to the panel without trying to make the show all about them. Although Steven could do with a little less singing.

He also sexually harassed most of the females who came to the room, which was awesome to watch -- even when he hit on 16-year-old girls. As he did when little Victoria Huggins came to audition.

Speaking of Victoria, we're all in agreement that she's basically Miley Cyrus, right? I mean, not the real Miley, but the version of Miley that Vanessa Bayer has made even more popular thanks to her spot-on imitation of the singer on "SNL."

The Reason Behind Miley Cyrus’ Wild Behavior

In an interview with Hollywood Life, psychotherapist, Dr. Gilda Carle says that it’s no coincidence that some of Miley’s wildest behavior occurred after Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce.

Cyrus' parents have night out

Miley Cyrus' parents put their split behind them on Friday to enjoy a family night out at the movies in California.Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish filed for divorce in October, with both citing irreconcilable differences as they seek to bring their 17-year marriage to an end. They subsequently put their marital home in Toluca Lake, California on the market for just over $7 million.

But the former couple reunited on Friday evening for an outing to a cinema in Burbank, California with their son Braison and Tish's daughter Brandi, from a previous relationship who was adopted by Billy Ray as a child, reports PerezHilton.com.

After negative comments and jokes about her and hubby, Lamar Odom, made the trending topics on Twitter on Wednesday, Khloe decided she needed a break.“The negativity that I see, hear, or read today is out of control,” she tweeted. “I’m signing off Twitter for a little so I can remain my positive self.”

Miley Cyrus reignites discussion on salvia

VANCOUVER (CUP) — “Everything turns to water—like cell-shaded water, and I fall onto a pirate ship as I’m smoking it. Then I start hallucinating. All of a sudden, I’m in the world of Zelda, like the Deku Tree area. And I try to run, but on salvia you can’t really move.”These are the words Nick Workman, a University of Western Ontario student, used to describe his first experience with Salvia divinorum, or Diviner’s Sage, an entheogenic South American plant that can be legally sold and purchased in Canada. Since Workman first tried salvia several years ago, the drug has been gaining users via unconventional channels.

In early December, popular celebrity gossip blog TMZ.com posted a video of Miley Cyrus, former Disney star, smoking from a bong at her eighteenth birthday party. In the video, the actress slurs and says she wants “more of that shit.”

According to TMZ’s sources, the “shit” in question is salvia.

Chris Bennett, owner of Vancouver’s Urban Shaman, counts salvia among his inventory of shamanic aids, though it’s not widely used.

“It was more popular a few years ago,” Bennett said. “It’s gone through its novelty potential.”

The Cyrus video sparked some renewed interest in the drug among an unlikely demographic.

“Usually when something like that happens, I get a bunch of older people in, middle-age type people. The kids already know about it,” said Bennett, in reference to the Cyrus video.

“Kids” is a broad term, as Bennett does not allow minors into his store. However, a Canadian Alcohol and Drug Use Monitoring Survey study showed that 7.3 per cent of Canadians between 15 and 24 have taken the drug at least once.

The sale of salvia is a grey area. In Canada, the plant is classified as a natural health product, meaning it cannot be sold unless it has been reviewed and authorized by Health Canada, which it hasn’t. A loophole in the law allows salvia to be sold openly so long as the consumer is informed that their purchase is not intended for human use.

“To date, Health Canada has not licensed for sale any drug or NHP which contains salvia as an ingredient,” said Christelle Legault, a spokesperson for the ministry.

This means that the sale of the plant is largely under the jurisdiction of Health Canada’s Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate. Their enforcement of these laws has been slack, according to a CBC article dated Oct. 19.

Bennett says that salvia is not meant for human consumption.

“Traditionally, it’s burned as incense. It was used as a visionary oracle, so people would consult it with a question and, from their vision, try and decipher an answer.”

Using salvia can be an intense, powerful experience. Salvia trips are a popular topic of discussion in Bennett’s store.

“I probably talk to more people about those experiences than anything else,” he said.

“There are a lot of commonalities. A lot of people report they have a vision where everything is made out of Lego or pages of a book.”

Bennett himself is not a user of the plant. “I don’t really like salvia myself. It’s not something I can see myself doing again. I find the loss of identity and personality too overwhelming or something.”

Recently, a woman from Burnaby, BC shattered her jawbone after jumping out a third-story window while high on salvia. Bennett isn’t sure the drug is to blame, comparing the situation to “a drunk person blaming booze for their car accident. With some common sense and some safe precautions—like having somebody there with you—that sort of danger is negated.”

According to Legault, “Health Canada is currently assessing whether the regulation of salvia divinorum […] under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is warranted.”

Given its reputation, it is unlikely that the drug will ever receive approval. Bennett sees this less as a vote for public safety than an act of suppression.

“The biggest concern about salvia is not any proclaimed health effects, it’s that, for five minutes, people are having a visionary experience,” he said.

“It’s like our culture somehow fears that sort of thing.”

Miley Cyrus Working On 'Big Bang' Film

Back in November, Rock Mafia's Tim James revealed to MTV News that plans were being formed to turn the sexy clip for their tune "The Big Bang" into an even-sexier movie starring its video girl, Miley Cyrus. Now it seems the project is well under way. E! News reports that Miley's mom, Tish Cyrus, has been meeting with Suzanne Todd — a producer on films such as "Alice in Wonderland," the "Austin Powers" films and "Memento" — to turn the music video into a full-length feature. Sources tell the website Miley is looking to reprise her role to pick up where her ghostly character left off. There's no word yet if Kevin Zegers will return to the project.

Rock Mafia's Antonina Armato tweeted about the project, for which her team would reportedly help write the script. "Just had a Meeting with Tish Cyrus and Suzanne Todd for 'Big Bang' To be made into a Movie!!! #fingerscrossed," she tweeted Monday. A rep for the group did not respond to MTV News' request for more information by press time.

Armato said the film will be "epic." Regarding the "Big Bang" music video, James gave props to Miley and Zegers for their turn as star-crossed lovers.

"The whole idea was to do something different," he explained. "[The director] had such a cool vision for it ... the vision was to let it fly, let the chemistry speak for itself. When we were watching them shoot it, we were like, 'Wow, this is going to be really cool.'

"Kevin and [Miley] both brought their real acting game to it. ... The chemistry is not by accident. You can feel it, and it's intense," he continued. "I'm really proud of both of them."
